Welcome to the
WEB ARCHIVE
OF THE
THOMAS PAINE NATIONAL HISTORICAL
ASSOCIATION
SCHOLARS PLEASE NOTE: This archive is
formatted and hyperlinked in ways we hope you will find very useful.
All texts are paginated to Philip S. Foner's The Complete Writings
of Thomas Paine, New York: The Citadel Press, 1945 perhaps
the most widely cited collection of Paine's writings. This visible
pagination allows you to cite directly from that work or from
our website URL depending upon your requirements. The other two
most important collections of Paine's works are Moncure Daniel
Conway's The Writings of Thomas Paine, New York: G.P. Putnam's
Sons, 1894 and William van der Weyde's The Life and Works of
Thomas Paine, New Rochelle: Thomas Paine National Historical
Association, 1925. The commentaries of all three editors are included
at the beginning of each work and the footnotes of all three editions
are hyperlinked within the text, allowing you to read the footnotes
and then, by using the "back" button on your computer,
returning you to your original place in the text.
